Skittles, hymns, history talk and Christmas lunch…

There’s plenty happening in Warleggan the next seven days, and beyond!

Friday 23 October:

  • Village Greens shop open 9 am to 2 pm, Jubilee Hall, lots to buy, and great breakfasts, soups, and other refreshments – info
  • Skittles Evening, Jubilee Hall, 7 pm for 7.30 pm start  –  £5 per team of four –  licensed bar, pasties, tea, coffee and soft drinks available  – come as team of four, or make up teams on arrival – fun for all the family – no previous experience needed – see our new Skittles webpage

Sunday 25 October:

  • Songs of Praise, 6 pm, St Bartholomew Church, Warleggan –  favourite hymns, meet the new curate  – followed by refreshments  –  info

Tuesday 27 October:

  • (note that, exceptionally, there will be NO table tennis this evening due to hall being unavailable;  but new players are always welcome on all other Tuesday evenings or Sunday mornings, no charge for first-timers, but thereafter £2 each on Tuesday evenings or £1 each on Sunday mornings) – info

Wednesday 28 October:

  • ‘The Rise and Fall of Methodism in Cornwall’, History Group talk, Jubilee Hall, 7.30 pm – info

Over the next seven days…

Fireside TalesIt’s another action-packed week in Warleggan, featuring amongst other things a history group talk about Cornwall and the Battle of the Atlantic on Wednesday evening, the eagerly anticipated return of the much-loved ‘Fireside Tales’ on Friday evening, a Christmas bazaar in the chapel on Saturday morning, and the United Parish Carol Service up at the church on Tuesday week.

Preparations are also underway for the Children’s Christmas Party on Saturday week, 13 December.

And don’t forget our regular activities in the hall. There’s Village Greens every Friday 9am – 2pm (with 19 Dec the last day before they close for Christmas break);  there’s also Pilates every Tuesday at noon, and Table Tennis (beginners also welcome) now held twice a week, on Tuesday evenings from 7pm, and Sunday mornings from 11.15am.

And for your next year’s diary: on Saturday 10th January we have the Community Barn Dance.  We’re delighted to have ‘Choughed to Bits’ back in Warleggan – no dancing experience or talent needed (or wanted); great for families. Live music from the  musicians, and their leader will guide us patiently through the steps. There’ll be pot-luck snacks (pls bring a plate of something to share), licensed bar…  Overall, great music, great dancing, a great evening out…  Adults £6;  children £4;  family (maximum 4 people, of whom no more than 2 adults) £15.  Tickets from Liz L, 821551 or through the website (click here)

Music, games and history

Coming up over the next seven days at the Jubilee Hall in Mount:

Tonight, Friday 24 Oct, 7.30pm: The Salt Roads  – an evening of stories, music and song, following the salt road around Cornwall  –  Carn to Cove presentation  –  Tickets available at the door  – more info

Tuesday 28 Oct, 2.30 – 4.30 pm: Table Tennis for Juniors, half-term introductory special  – for any youngsters interested in having a go.  Free of charge. All welcome. Just come along. Spread the word locally.  Must be accompanied by adults; tea/coffee/biscuits will be provided; bring cold drinks and any other refreshments if you wish  – more info 

Wednesday 29 Oct, 7.30pm: Cornwall Audio Visual Archive – A talk by Dr Garry Tregigda, Assistant Director of the Institute of  Cornish Studies  – organised by History Group –  all welcome  – more info
