The trio of events celebrating the summer of 2025 in the parish began on Saturday 21 June with Midsummer Madness, an evening of live music, games, picnic held at the Church Field in Warleggan, raising funds for the Jubilee Hall in Mount, and St Bartholomew’s Church in Warleggan. A month later we had the Annual Produce and Crafts Show, raising funds for the hall, and then two weeks after that, the “Little Do in the Field“, raising funds for Penhaligon’s Friends and the Reading Room.

The 21st of June had arrived and the weather looked good, and then typically in good Cornish fashion we could see the mist appearing in the distance…. however, it managed to bypass us all in the field.
The mini festival had five acts due to perform throughout the evening, starting with the Garker Street band, part instrumental and part vocal, playing a variety of music, they like to call themselves a charity music group, all the monies they raise go to charity, for this event they were raising for the RNLI, and together we raised £204 for them during the event.

Sam Wheatley or Shanty Sam as he likes to be called has been performing at festivals for a little over a year and is occasionally seen busking around Truro, he was such a great sport today and did two sets and also filled in time between act changes, very popular with the kids, as they were busy dancing and joining in around the stage. Kello one of the acts from Truro/Penwith college followed, a young girl doing indie/pop/folk, she had an amazing voice, real talent. Watch out for her in the future.
Then Holly & Louie followed, a second act from Truro/Penwith College, what amazing talent they have, Holly on vocals accompanied by Louie on guitar, they come together as an indie acoustic duo, Holly has a real talent in her voice and again the duo to watch out for.
The evening ended with Will Keating, award winning singer songwriter, appearing today with John Dowling, a world-famous award-winning banjo player.
The weather held out, although it did start to get a little chilly towards the end, but overall, a great evening of music with smite, Jenga and Giant snakes and ladders keeping people busy. About 80 people joined us and on top of the funds raised for the RNLI we raised a further £1000 for the Warleggan Jubilee Hall and St Bartholomew’s Church.
A BIG THANKS to all who came and enjoyed the evening…
… And next year, there’ll be midsummer madness again! Saturday 27th June 2026 – make a note in your diaries!
