Latest update (Feb 2026)…
The club recently enjoyed a wonderful evening of food and dancing at Trevenna
Barns for the annual Dinner and Dance. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone
who attended and supported the club, helping make the night as successful as it
deserved to be. Special appreciation is due for all the behind-the-scenes support,
with Club President Kathryn especially grateful to Full Blooms of Liskeard, all the
staff at Trevenna, and the many advisory and club members who contributed.
As usual, the club has been active with its festive fundraising, including the Santa
Drive By and Christmas Tree Collections, raising around £300 for this year’s charities: Penhaligon Friends and Children’s Hospice Southwest. Looking ahead, members are already taking orders for this year’s Dung Run on Saturday, 21st February.
To reserve your bags (£3 each or £10 for four), please contact Harry at
07596575241. I also believe that there could be another Fish and Chip night on the
horizon. Please keep an eye out for more details.
Interestingly, over half of the club’s current members are not from farming backgrounds, and those involved in agriculture are more than happy to chat about subjects beyond farming during Monday evenings. If you know someone aged 14–28,
why not invite them to get in touch with the club chairman and join an evening? In
recent weeks, members have enjoyed activities such as a visit to M and M Plant of
Launceston, dance practice for the dinner and dance from an advisory group surprise night. Upcoming events include talks from Little Harbour, golfing at the China
Fleet Driving Range, and a trip to Ian Hodge Field Sports.

- Are you aged between 10 and 28 and have spare Monday evenings?
- Do you fancy joining a friendly club? Raising money for charities?
- Having fun and having loads of different opportunities?
Our club currently has members aged between 14 and 28, and you don’t have to be a farmer to be member of Warleggan YFC as some of our current members have no farming background at all…you just need to enjoy spending time outdoors, be keen to try new things and be up for having a laugh as we don’t take things seriously!

Warleggan Young Farmers is a registered charity – charity number 275709*
Warleggan Young Farmers Club (YFC) was founded in 1947, and is much more than a social club – it is a hard working club who work together well especially in fund raising for various charities, and who over the years have raised a tremendous amount for a range of local and national charities and charitable organisations (e.g. Cancer Research UK, Hearts Together, Macmillan Nursing Care, FLEET, Cornwall Air Ambulance, Cornwall Hospice Care, Children’s Cancer Care, Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution, Help for Heroes, Macmillan Cancer Support, Parkinsons UK, Young Minds, Little Harbour, Penhaligon’s Friends, and the Warleggan YFC Club, etc…)
Our local YFC is affiliated to the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Club whose motto is “Fun, Learning and Achievement”. The NFYC is the largest organisation of rural youth in the UK. Each YFC is completely autonomous, run by the members, although there are Club Leaders available for any guidance that is required and an Advisory Committee made up mainly of members’ parents and interested individuals who support the Club in all aspects.
Warleggan and District Young Farmers Club (charity no. 275709) is an active local member of the Cornwall Confederation of Young Farmers’ Clubs.
Mission
- to advance the education of young members of the public at large in agriculture, home crafts, country life and related subjects; and
- in the interests of the social welfare of such members to provide and promote the provision of the facilities for recreation and other leisure-time occupations, being facilities which will improve their conditions of life and will assist in the development of their spiritual and mental capacities, self-reliance and individual responsibility so that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of the community.
