Mount Reading & Community Room

With a snooker table, two dart boards, the renovated reading room is an ideal meeting place.  Come along and see what’s there.  If you want to “try before you buy”, get in touch with any member who can invite you as a guest.

We also hold monthly breakfasts at the Jubilee Hall in Mount, 9am – midday, second Saturday of the month;  and monthly pop-up pubs on the third Saturday of the month, 7.30pm – 10pm.  More details below.

The reading room also organises a monthly pop up pub, and a monthly breakfast…Monthly breakfast, Jubilee Hall, Mount

The “reading room” at Mount crossroads not only welcomes players of snooker and darts to its room, it also organises a range of activities in the village, including, but not limited to, monthly breakfasts and pop up pubs, as well as other events, most notably the little do in the field.  The reading room is also raising money for Penhaligon Friends.  Full details below.

The Committee and Members continue to be delighted that the Saturday Breakfasts and Pop-Up Pubs are so popular.

The big “Little Do” 2025 –  a stunning success

Click above for report and more photos of this year’s Little Do

Many thanks for your support at the Little Do which ended up as a Big ‘Little’ Do.  It was a great afternoon out, and it brought everyone from the community together. On top of that, we were raising money for Penhaligon’s Friends, with all profits from the Dog Show, Cream teas, BBQ and craft tables enabling us to raise a total of £390 for this wonderful charity.  Profits from the bar went to the Reading Room itself.

For those that don’t know, Penhaligon’s Friends is a local charity that this year is celebrating 30 years of providing guidance and support to bereaved children and their families in Cornwall. The Reading Room aims to raise yet more through further fund-raising events until September 2026, when we will then make our donation to them. Hopefully we will raise a lot more throughout the year.

Thanks for all you support.

reading room renovation 2022

Now finished and carpeted, the reading room has a very different look.  Rob and his team of volunteers did a splendid job in removing the old wooden floor and re-laying in concrete,  recladding the walls both internally and externally.  The snooker table is back, and there are two dart boards.

A new era for the snooker-reading room in Mount was agreed at the meeting held on Thursday 30 June 2022 where the future of this historic building was discussed.  There was standing room only at the meeting, and it was agreed that we should bring the building back to life.

  1. Tuesday evenings there ia a game of darts. We would like some more members if poss as we are getting fed up of being beaten by Chris. Anyone welcome but may be best to check with Crafty Chris, Tricky Nicky or Dynamo Dee just to make sure there is someone there. Or leave a message on here.

    1. Fed up of being beaten by me? It only happened the once… Better call me ‘Crestfallen Chris’ – so anyway… From my side, I’d particularly like to see darts players with little or preferably no experience coming along – and if they’re any good at multiplying, adding and subtracting, that’s a bonus! Maybe I can win again one day…

  2. Wonderful, at last, to see inside the rather grandly named Reaing Room! Lived in Warleggan until I was 18 and never got a glimpse in all that time. I used to wonder what it was like inside…
