Village Greens provides a cost effective alternative for those who are concerned about what they eat, where it comes from and how it is packaged.  We are a not-for-profit group, run by volunteers, and our food products are either organic or local or fair trade. We can provide meat that is organic and/or local. Our dairy supplier can supply milk in glass bottles and most of the dairy products are Cornish. We also stock cleaning materials which are environmentally friendly. To help you reduce single-use plastic many of the products come in 5 litre containers. We also buy food items in bulk and bag them in smaller quantities to help keep prices down.

Each week, a list of available stock, with prices, is distributed by email (BCC).   To join the email list, please send an email to  vilaverde@btinternet.com.   Pre-ordered produce is ready for collection weekly, every Thursday 3-4pm. Orders need to be received by 6pm on Saturday for the following Thursday.

The Thursday Café

The café, now operating independently from village greens and called the Thursday Café, operates monthly on the first Thursday of each month, from 10.30am  – 12 noon, with profits going to the Church   –  come for teas, coffee, cakes etc.  and a chat.  All welcome.

If you would like to run a café regularly on another Thursday each month, raising funds for a deserving  cause of your choice, then there are lots of customers wanting to come!  Contact this website and we’ll help you get in touch with the right people.

Remembering the days before Corona –  and hopes for the future

In pre-covid days, every Friday, Village Greens would offer a choice of local fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy produce, along with cakes, preserves, handicrafts and lots lots more.

Refreshments were also available:  tea and coffee, cooked breakfasts, light lunches, soups and other snacks. It was a meeting hub for the village –  and we hope one day for such days to return!

Village Greens is a Community Interest Company: it is a not for profit business whose guiding principles are that it is good for the animals, good for the environment and good for you.
